Here I Am, I wrote this almost a year after mom died, with
the realization that I'm stronger and more at peace than I ever
was before. Living In Love, I wrote this for Mother's Day that year. Definitely
a tribute of my love to my husband Joe, and the kids. Clear Sky, Bradford Smith had this going way before I jumped in there with a lyrical melody line. I love singing it, it clears my mind! Don't Be Afraid, I wrote this with Tim Mead right before
I went into the hospital for my second hip surgery. I love Tim's
voice so much, when I heard him sing, it was very easy to imagine
him being the voice of the presence, that I feel/hear during
my meditations. Seize The Day, This was originally recorded (and written) by a Canadian artist, Carolyn Arends. It was my Mom's favorite song on the radio in her final months. I told her I would record on my next album and dedicate it to her. So . here it is Mom! Thank the Holy Spirit, This one almost hit the trash! I find that hard to believe now. Brad rescued it, slowed the tempo down, and definitely jazzed it up! Affirmation of Life, I wrote this affirmation/song while
I was taking care of Mom and out for a walk one afternoon. It
was very powerful, it got me through some tough times. Ode To Cape Breton, This was originally a poem that I found in a book "Folk and Folklore of Cape Breton Island" (where I was born and raised) by my grandfather Dan A. MacDonald. He was always very interested in preserving the Scottish heritage and tracing and recording our roots. Years later, his son and my uncle, Ken MacDonald made a beautiful family tree, which is still kept up to date. Donald and Angus, These are the two brothers that came over from Scotland in the late 1700's. Every other year we have a big Clan Donald and Angus gathering on the beautiful Cape Breton shores. The Way, I call it The Ultimate Love Song. Changes, I've been through a lot in this life time. I've learned if you look for the good in the situation, you will always find it. Where are you? Wendy Sorensen and I wrote this one rainy afternoon, while having a cup of coffee in my kitchen. Wendy comes from the East Coast, as well. We both were missing the ocean, so we made that connection through this song. There Is A Season, That year, a house that normally puts on a lot of Christmas lights, didn't put any. I wondered if maybe someone was ill, or had died or something. It made me realize it's a nice way to say to your neighbors and the world "We're okay, and there is peace in our home". That's how the song started. Lost In the Wonder , The death of my Mom
.the birth
of my daughter. I truly am lost in the wonder. |

You could call it starting over And here I am, I'm on my own I don't see things as so simple And I see now every second of every minute And here I am, I'm on my own There's an angel watching over me And here I am, I'm on my own When the baby's crying unexplainably Living in love in this world When I think I have no more to give Living in love in this world You will reap in return When it's time for bed, and I just wanna sleep I will wake each day knowing this is my tomorrow In times of my greatest insight But there seems to be a pattern Where does life come from? The first time when a mother And I'm lost in the wonder, the wonder of it all And each soul holds the secret of love within our heart And I'm lost in the wonder, the wonder of it all It comes from the mother and returns to the source Living and dying the miracle is real |
